The system of Country Quota was played in Beach Volleyball until 2012. And now it’s back!
Country Quota is very easy to explain: From each country, only 4 teams per gender are allowed to participate in a tournament, except for the host country. If more teams sign in, they play Country Quota – right before the Qualification starts! There the teams play against each other in a simple knock-out system which means that the teams with the least points start the Country Quota round. The top national Beach Volleyball teams (with the most points) are still directly qualified for the main draw.
With Stavanger Major already being one of the most popular tournaments this year amongst both international as well as Norwegian players, Country Quota is played in Stavanger.
The women’s Country Quota starts today, with the following fierce teams in the mix:
Team A: Lima/Fernanda
Team B: Lili/Carol Maximo
Team A: Laboureur/Sude
Team B: Bieneck/Grosser
Team A: Radarong/Udomchavee
Team B: Bye
Team A: Numwong/Hongpak
Team B: Sirinuch/Pronsuda
Team A: Carico/Dicello
Team B: Bye
Team A: Fopma/Summer
Team B: Hochevar/McGuire
Stay tuned who made it to the Qualification!
