About

Stavanger is a city and municipality in Norway with about 132,000 inhabitants. The city is the third-largest urban zone and metropolitan area in Norway and is closely linked to the sea and water, with five lakes and three fjords (Hafrsfjord, Byfjorden and Gandsfjorden) nearby.

The outstanding atmosphere of the harbor does not only attract large cruise ships, but also the international Beach Volleyball elite is once again going to meet in Stavanger to compete in the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series stop. Since 1999 Stavanger held several international FIVB Beach Volleyball tournaments, whereas the 2009 event was the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship. In 2015 the city is proud to be part of the Swatch Beach Volleyball Major.
