SHORTLIST: Big names Stavanger Major

Need a quick introduction to the teams you really should look out for in Stavanger Major this year? This is the super short-list!

WOMEN

1 Holtwick / Semmler ( GER)

The World Tour 2014 looked like this for Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler: 1st place in Gstaad , 2nd place in The Hague, 2nd place in Prague, 5th place in Long Beach, 3rd place in Stare Jablonki – and the list of top positions never seem to end for the hard-hitting German team. Both started their careers indoors, only to now have their feet firmly planted in the sand – were we all know that the sky is the limit.

2 Kolocova / Slukova (CZE)

Kristyna ‘Kiki’ Kolocova and Marketa ‘Maki’ Slukova have been playing together ever since they started their beach volleyball career ten years ago, winning the U18 Europeans in 2005 and placing 2nd in the U23 Europeans three years later. With two Grand Slam podiums, including victory in Berlin, and a win in their home Open in Prague previous season, the Czech duo is definitely amongst the favourites for the 2015 Major Series tournaments.

MEN

1 Alison / Bruno (BRA)

Allison Cerutti has a long and prosperous career ahead of him. Not yet turned 30, he has already been named Best Blocker once, most Offensive Player once and Best Smasher twice. His partner Bruno Oscar Schmidt was named Best Defensive Player in both 2013 and 2014. Together they rank just behind Dalhausser / Rosental, will give the Americans a clash of epic proportions given the chance. Brazil has a total of 291 victories in world tournaments and sits at the top of all statistics as the country having the most wins in various locations.

2 Fijalek / Prudel (POL)

The two aspiring Poles Mariuz Prudel and Grzegorz Fijalek has been going at it full force towards this season and along the way gained impressive results. 3rd in Smart Beach Tour Münster, 2nd place in the Grand Slam Long Beach, as well as having won the European Championship Baden Masters CEV and Grand Slam Haga. Look out Stavanger Major. These guys are smoking hot!

3 Ricardo / Emanuel (BRA)

Ricardo Alex Costa Santos/ Emanuel Rego are one of beach volleyball's most well-known formulas of success. After a break between 2010 and 2014, they are back as a force to be reckoned with yet again. In 2014 Emanuel Rego was named Sportsman of the Year. This is the 5th time in the 10 years the price has existed. These guys are on the road to Rio on first class!
